Heartsick....

Being a new mom and not really having any close friends that have babies I have decided that I was not fully prepared for the feelings I would have when my baby got sick. Graham has been stopped up the last few days and I assumed it was the weather because I get like that when it rains a bunch, but Monday night and into Tuesday morning it was alot worse you could tell he was struggling. So I called the Dr. she said to go ahead and bring him in with him being so young that anything I might be worried about should be looked at just in case. Again with me being a new mom and I had no idea if I was making a big deal out of nothing or if something was really wrong, needless to say I was a bit emotional yesterday. So we get to the Dr. whom I love by the way, she is so amazing, and she tells us he has an ear infection and a bit of a cold. Okay- I can handle that nothing to serious, gave him some antibiotics and sent us on our way. After running errands and then heading home, he wasjust fussier that ever before. So we decide to go ahead and give him the medicine, the stuff was really thick and he had an issue getting it down. No sooner than I give it to him he throws up and I mean projectile vomit. He looked so wiped out after that. I had never taken care of a kid throwing up and I really had no idea what to do. So I said put him in the bathtub. That seemed to help calm him down and get him a little more relaxed which made me not feel quite as bad. He just wanted to be held which I was completly fine with. You could tell that he did not feel good at all. But thankfully he slept pretty good last night and after I talked to the Dr. again this morning and gave him the medicine again ( this time it stayed down) he is a lot less fussy and is sleeping right now. I'm telling you my heart just aches because I feel like I can't do anything for him. I do not like this feeling at all. I can say now I know what my mother meant when she told me when I was little and sick that I wouldn't know heartache until my own baby was sick. So please if ya think about it say a little prayer for my lil man.

You sound like a great mom! Lil G is pulling at your heart strings which means you are really attached. It is hard on moms when their sweet little babies are sick and it gives you a helpless feeling. It sounds like you are doing all the right things keeping his health and happiness #1.

Keep doing what you are doing! You are doing great!

Oh no! I know exactly what you mean about feeling helpless when they are sick. It breaks your heart.
My advise is to just hold him as much as you can right now, he needs to feel the comfort. :)
Poor little man, I will be praying for a speedy recovery for him. One good thing is that they are pretty resilient and he should start to feel better in no time.
I'll be praying for you, too! Rest with him as much as possible....don't need a worn out Mommy, too!!!

OH NO...poor baby. I hope he feels better soon! It is the most difficult part of being a parent. Feeling helpless when you can't make the pain go away.
